Our Faucet Installation Process in Baltimore County Homes

Faucet Installation in Baltimore CountyThe very first thing you should do is turn off your water supply. Once you do this, turn the old faucet on to relieve any water pressure that’s left in your lines.

  • Disconnect your supply lines from the old faucet. If you are unable to reach the connections using your hands, use a basin wrench instead.
  • Disconnect the lift rod so that you can remove the nuts from beneath your old faucet.
  • Remove the P-trap. There’s probably some water still sitting inside of it, so make sure you place something beneath it to catch the excess water.
  • Detach the drain flange from the tailpiece.
  • Before you begin installing the new faucet, clean the areas around the faucet holes and the old drain.
  • Different types of faucets may have different installation instructions depending on the manufacturer. For example, some faucets will require that you apply some kind of sealant or plumber’s putty when installing the gasket on the bottom of the new faucet.
  • Once the gasket is at the bottom of the faucet, attach the faucet to your sink and then secure it using the mounting nuts.
  • Not all faucets come assembled, which means the handles may need to be attached manually. This is typically pretty easy – all you’ll have to do is position the handles on the base of the faucet and then screw it into place using a setscrew. You’ll need a hex wrench to screw in the setscrew.
  • Screw a nut down on the drain body and then push the gasket over it.
  • Add silicone or plumber’s putty under the flange. Then place the drain body on the bottom of the sink and screw the flange on from the top side.
  • Tighten the nut and the gasket beneath the drain.
  • Unscrew the drain body’s pivot nut and insert the drain rod through the hole located in the stopper. Then screw the pivot nut back in. Push the rod down and us a screw to secure the lift rod to the strap.
  • Reconnect your supply lines to the new faucet.
  • Remove the aerator so you can flush the faucet and get rid of sediment and debris. Test the faucet to make sure it works properly.
